Little Libraries
MRV is currently working with management companies in major cities to open free libraries in residential buildings. These libraries will have everything from classics, to cookbooks, to novels, and will be offered free of charge via donations.
Chess Tournaments / Spelling Bees
MRV working with community centers around the country in marginalized neighborhoods to host chess tournaments and spelling bees for children ages 10 - 18. Winners will earn an array of prizes from scholarships to MRV merchandise.
Double Dutch and Hand Ball Tourneys
A Gen X staple, MRV would like to get children off the streets and back into the parks and gyms for tournaments that will challange youth to hand ball and double dutch, two activities that will bring out their athleticism and creativity with a minimum of equipment.
Community Outreach
How Mission, Root, and Vine is supporting communities
MRV Physical Store Opening. Mission, Root, and Vine is excited to announce our first physical location in Brooklyn, New York. The main physical store, along with planned local outlets, will bring funds and jobs to underserved neighborhoods.
MRV Pop Up Event. Mission, Root, and Vine will be holding a pop up event in Chicago on September 25th. The event will include food and items by local vendors, live music and spoken word events, and item giveaways. Watch this space for more details.
VR DAY Sponsored by MRV. An entire day dedicated to the demonstration and education of virtual reality technology. The day begins with a demonstration of how VR can be used as a teaching tool, a fitness apparatus, and a means of travel. Volunteers will take participants through several apps, then allow them to explore on their own. The day will wrap with a class on how VR content is created, and there will be a sign up sheet for those looking for further VR instruction.
5K Walk/Run. MRV is sponsoring a 5K Walk / Run fundraising event to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation For the Cure. The event will take place in Los Angeles in November to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Mission, Root, and Vine will be matching all funds raised for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and during the month of November, MRV will also be donating a portion of every purchase to Saint Jude's Cancer Research Hospital for children.
